Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
BPH, or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, is a non-cancerous overgrowth of the prostate gland, which affects the flow of urine out of the bladder and into the urethra.
Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in American men, affecting 1/6 over his lifetime. In 2010, there will be roughly 200,000 men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer, and 20,000 will die of this, the second cause of cancer deaths in American men. Despite these staggering numbers, over two million men in U.S. live with prostate cancer, and 2/3 of the men diagnosed with it are over the age of 65. Today many patients with prostate cancer are found to have clinically organ confined disease at the time of diagnosis, thanks in great part to screening in the form of annual PSA and digital rectal exams.
Bladder Cancer
Bladder cancer is a malignant overgrowth of cells in the bladder. In the United States, the most common kind of bladder cancer is transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder (over 90%), which is derived from the cells that line the urinary tract and the bladder. Most often, patients present with blood in the urine (also called hematuria).
Hematuria
Hematuria refers to the presence of blood in the urine. There are generally two types of hematuria: gross hematuria (where the blood is obvious to the patient) and microscopic hematuria (or microhematuria, where the blood is not noticed by the patient, but rather detected on a urine test – urinalysis).
Kidney Stones
The treatment of kidney stones has two phases: treating the current stones and preventing the future ones. Briefly stated treatment of kidney stones can be divided into observation versus surgical treatment. Observation is generally elected for stones that would otherwise pass on their own (i.e. generally less than 5 mm), or are in an area of the kidney which is not amenable to surgical treatment (i.e. the kidney stone is in the parenchyma of the kidney – the meat of the kidney).
Bladder Stones
Bladder stones are generally the result of crystalline growth of minerals excreted into the urinary tract. Bladder stones may be a singular stone or a collection of several stones in the bladder. They are generally caused as a result of concentrated urine, and another urinary abnormality such as urinary retention (incomplete emptying of bladder), urinary tract infections or even gout.
Kidney Cancer
A malignant condition that develops in the kidney due to an aberrant growth of cells that originate from the kidney. Kidneys reside in their retroperitoneal area of the body and filter water which directly leads to the production of urine. In adults and most common kind of kidney cancer is real cell carcinoma.
Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
A urinary tract infection also known as a UTI is a general term which refers to an infectious process which involves any part of the urinary tract, and can cause local inflammation and pain over the affected area. When the urinary tract infection involves the kidney, it is called pyelonephritis. When the UTI involves the bladder, it is termed cystitis.

In men the treatment of infertility is generally performed by a urologist.
Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction also known as impotence, is the inability to obtain or maintain a penile erection sufficient for sexual intercourse.
Hydronephrosis
Hydronephrosis is a general term which literally means water in kidney. It refers to the swelling of the kidney most commonly due to some kind of obstructing agent impeding the flow of urine and causing backlog of the urine into the kidney.
Hypogonadism
Hypogonadism in that condition where a man’s testosterone is lower than the expected level for his age.
